CODE OF CONDUCT PURPOSE The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to promote and strengthen the reputation of the Lower Plenty Football Club (LPFC), by establishing a standard of performance, behaviour and professionalism for its participants and stakeholders. The Code of Conduct is an outline of acceptable behaviour and is not intended to be lengthy or detailed and does not remove the requirement for all to exercise good judgement. The Code of Conduct has been developed by the Football Department of the LPFC in consultation with the following stakeholders:- Senior Leadership Group, (representing the players); The Senior, Seconds and Under 19’s Coaches, (representing the coaching staff); The Executive of the LPFC, (representing the Committee and Members of LPFC).
APPLICATION The Code of Conduct applies to all members of the LPFC community and to all activities undertaken by the LPFC. This includes: BEHAVIOUR The Code requires Officials, Coaches, Players and Members to understand they must maintain a standard of behaviour and conduct in the best interests of the game and the LPFC, and represent themselves in an honest and forthright manner. Importantly not bring the LPFC into disrepute. Officials, Coaches, Players and Members should endeavour to uphold the following as it applies to them, and to the best of their ability: 1. Respect the rights, dignity, worth and property of all individuals and the LPFC from both within our club and opponents, including refraining from any discriminatory practices on the basis of race, religion, ethnic background or special ability/disability. Each must display and foster; a. Appropriate sporting behaviour b. Respect for umpires, opponents, coaches, administrators, other officials and spectators 2. All Players and Coaches should abide by the laws of the Game and the rules of the Club and the League. 3. Coaches should only make reasonable demands on the time commitment of players in their care having due considerations for; a. Their health and well-being. b. Varying maturity and ability levels of players. c. The level of requirements necessary to be a successful club in a community based competition. 4. Players should commit to actively participate in the football program and in doing so in a positive environment encouraging and supporting team mates. 5. Players and Coaches should be supportive at all times and refrain from any form of personal or physical abuse. 6. Officials and Coaches should endeavour to keep informed regarding sound principles of coaching and skill development and factors that impact on the welfare of players. 7. All should be supportive of the LPFC Alcohol & Drug Policy. A person will be deemed to have engaged in conduct or behaviour; a) Regardless of whether or not it was committed deliberately or negligently; b) If that person attempted , offered or encouraged others to engage in that conduct or behaviour; or c) Where that person knowingly takes part in the conduct or behaviour. DISCIPLANARY CONSEQUENCES Any breach of the LPFC Code of Conduct will be subject to disciplinary action as determined by the Disciplinary Committee which comprises:- The LPFC Football Operations Manager (Committee Chairman) A representative from the Club Coaching panel A representative from the Players Leadership Group An office bearer of the Club Committee A member of the Football Operations Group
SANCTIONS / PENALTIES The disciplinary Committee will administer penalties for any breach in the Code of Conduct as appropriate, and can include:- Reprimand Direction to make a verbal or written apology Direction to undergo Counselling Fine Suspension Expulsion and/or termination of Contract Cancellation of Membership Such other sanction as deemed appropriate.
ALCOHOL & DRUG POLICY PURPOSE The purpose of the Drug & Alcohol policy is to provide and maintain an environment where appropriate behaviour is maintained towards people and property, including visitors to the Lower Plenty Football Club (LPFC), consistent with the LPFC Code of Conduct. The Alcohol and Drug Policy is intended to outline the LPFC’s position regarding the use of alcohol and drugs within the Club community and environment. LPFC is also committed to providing assistance to those who may have an alcohol or drug dependency. This policy has been developed by the Football Department of the LPFC in consultation with the following stakeholders:- Senior Leadership Group, (representing the players); The Senior, Seconds and Under 19’s Coaches, (representing the coaching staff); The Executive of the LPFC, (representing the Committee and Members of LPFC).
APPLICATION The Alcohol and Drug Policy applies to all members of the LPFC community and to all activities undertaken by the LPFC. This includes: ALCOHOL Participating Players, Coaching Staff and Committee attending Training Sessions and Match days, must do so with no impairment from the effects of alcohol. Unacceptable behaviour contrary to the LPFC Code of Conduct, whilst representing or attending LPFC related activities, as a consequence of consuming or whilst under the influence of alcohol will not be tolerated by LPFC, and any such offender will be subject to disciplinary action. Lower Plenty do not support under age drinking, and also subscribe to the Responsible Serving of Alcohol. DRUGS Any Official, Coach, Player or Member who is found consuming or in possession of illicit drugs, or acting in an inappropriate manner per the LPFC Code of Conduct whilst under the influence of illicit drugs(other than drugs which have been prescribed on medical grounds), will in the absence of mitigating circumstances, be deemed to be committing an act of gross misconduct and will render themselves subject to the disciplinary consequences of the LPFC. DISCIPLANARY CONSEQUENCES Any breach of the LPFC Alcohol & Drug policy will be subject to disciplinary action as determined by the Disciplinary Committee which comprises:- The LPFC Football Operations Manager (Committee Chairman) A representative from the Club Coaching panel A representative from the Players Leadership Group An office bearer of the Club Committee A member of the Football Operations Group
The disciplinary Committee will administer penalties for any breach in the Alcohol & Drug policy as follows:- While in some cases a first offence will warrant a warning supported with Rehabilitation & Support, generally the breach will result in a suspension from the club and all Club activities for four (4) weeks, (however players will be permitted to attend training sessions after two (2) weeks suspension). All breaches will be issued with a first and final warning for instant termination for a period of 12 months from the LPFC for any re occurrence of an offence. After serving the 12 month suspension the Disciplinary Committee will consider any request to re-join the LPFC. Any such decision is at the total discretion of the Disciplinary Committee. More specifically breaches in relation to supplying or dealing illegal drugs at the LPFC will result in the offender being terminated instantly from the club and suspended indefinitely. Depending on the circumstances the matter may also be referred to legal authorities for possible investigation and prosecution. REHABILITATION & SUPPORT Should the LPFC become aware of any Officials, Coaches, Players or Members involvement with illegal drugs or Alcohol abuse, regardless of the outcomes from any disciplinary action that may have been imposed, the LPFC will offer assistance and support. In addition, The LPFC “Alcohol & Drug Assistance Program” is a free & confidential service available to all Players, Coaches, Members and Office bearers via ITIM Australia Limited. Trained counsellors are able to assist those who have an alcohol or drug abuse/dependency problem. They can also refer callers to appropriate community resources. Appointments can be made by telephoning 1800 337 068. All costs incurred in providing The LPFC “Alcohol & Drug Assistance Program” is proudly sponsored by “Meridian Essential Pty Ltd” TRAINING & EDUCATION The LPFC will endeavour to educate its members of the effects of alcohol & drug misuse. Various initiatives will be undertaken throughout each season to assist in the understanding of the adverse impact of Alcohol & Drug use.
